Valery Tsaryov | Fulgur

Freelance Sprite artist and animator

Hi! I'm Valery (AKA Fulgur), a Russian artist and animator that is also interested in game design. Working with people on fan projects for other games has been a hobby of mine for a couple of years now, currently I'm drawing for a couple of outstanding Slay the Spire 2 mods. I'm also working with a small, but passionate team on a personal project in the free time!Projects I've been or am working on:

I also made sprites and animations for these jam games:

Slay the Spire 2 Commissions

The Hero Expansion

The Hero Expansion is a content pack for Slay the spire 2 that adds over 50 cards to the game! The cards themselves are very interesting, and I'm honored to give them a good look!

It even features a unique Ancient card with 14 variations!

The Alchemist

The Alchemist is a mod for Slay the Spire 2 made by Seth! I made all the models and animations for it, as well as some cards and icons!You can find some examples of my work below:

Library of Ruina mod for Slay the Spire 2

Ruina 2 is a fantastic mod that adds a lot of reimagined content from Library of Ruina, a game I also love, to Slay the Spire 2! I made all the boss portraits and icons for it, a custom map and a rest site, as well as a card frame for Ruina's special 'E.G.O. pages'. I even got to work on a boss sprite in the spirit of the original game!

Ave Mujuca

Ave Mujica is another mod from Darkglade, the creator of Ruina 2 mod, and it features a character from Arknights! While this character's design and abilities differ from Slay the Spire's decisions, I like to think that a lot of the cards I drew for this project fit the game well!

Commission Details

Important information

Please keep in mind that I'm currently working only on Slay the Spire 2 commissions. Some prices might be higher than the ones stated below if the amount of time required to complete the project is noticeably larger than normal (unrealated to card sprites).
If you'd like to commission me for your project, please take a look at more information below!

Cards

Current price: 45$ per card.
Please note that I don't charge more or less for every individual card if it takes me longer or shorter to make respectively, in the end it usually evens out (when it doesn't, it's in the customer's favor).

Character Models

Current price: 350$ for the full model. The full model includes:

  • Idle;

  • Low HP;

  • Light attack;

  • Casting/alternative;

  • Relaxed (used for Shops);

  • Resting (used for Rest Sites);

  • Hurt;

  • Death.

Any extra animation will be 35$.

Select Screen Portraits and Ancient Cards

Current price: 60$

Potions and Relics

Current price: 5$ per sprite

Passive Icons

Current Price: 3$ per icon

Character hands (for multiplayer)

Current price: 15$ per character (includes point, rock, paper and scissors sprites)

Beta Cards (Sketches)

Current price: 3$ per sketch. Please note that I draw these very fast and don't spend a lot of time on render, so the quality from sketch to sketch can differ. Any extra descriptions for skethces are welcome, but usually I just draw the first thing I have in mind when I see the card's name and effect, rarely correcting the sprite after I consider it done. Order these at your own risk!

Custom Card Frames

Current Price: 40$ for the full card frame. Includes 3 custom frames (skill, attack and power), 3 borders (skill, attack and power), plaque and banner.

Map Portraits

Current price for a static portait: 20$ per sprite. Includes the portrait itself and its outline.
Price for an animated portrait: 40$ per sprite. Includes the animated portrait itself and its outline with the same animation.

Custom Map Background

Current Price: 40$ for the full map. Includes bottom, top and middle sprites.

Personal Projects

Project Sunset Street

Project Sunset Street originally was a jam game made for Godot Wild Jam 95, but it was so warmly accepted by other jam members that we decided to make it into a full game! I don't want to tell a lot about its new mechanics and decisions ubtil it's all set in stone, but I will be showing some of the progress here every once in a while!You can also learn more about its prototype here!

Game Jams

Rover

Rover is a little game that was made for Godot Wild Jam 87!"Humanity has sent you to a wild extroplanet, covered in dangerous terrain and alien ruins, to research the secrets of the alien race who once inhabited it. Scavenge for resources, avoid harmful terrain, and solve puzzles to satisfy the curiosity of humanity!"This was my first proper jam!

Hunt Galactic

Hunt Galactic is an even smaller game we barely finished due to losing one of the devs a couple of days after the jam's start. We didn't make it as good as we wanted, but I still had fun drawing for it!"A simple delivery ship gets caught in the crossfire between three factions, earning itself a sizable bounty. Endure the missions of the bored rulers until they finally dismiss you."This game was made for Godot Wild Jam 93.

Night of the Blight

Night of the Blight was the most animation-heavy jam I've ever worked on!'Mutate yourself to fight against the corruption that has been taking over the world'.This game was made for Godot Wild Jam 94.

Sunset Street 1980

Sunset Street is my favorite jam game I've ever made! I made it with a wonderful team that also enjoyed working on it, to the point where we all decided to make it a full game! You can find a little more about that here."Dive into the futuristic version of the 1980s and dance battle to the TOP! BUT - You´re not just dancing! - You need to strategically use cassettes to become THE BEST DANCER EVER!!!"This was originally a game for Godot Wild Jam 95. It got 9th place!

Lost in Trainslation

Lost in Trainslation was made for GMTK jam 2026 and featured the biggest team I've ever had the honor of working with! I was working with 2 more wonderful artists and the jam itself was only 4 days long, but I still have some content to show!"Try to catch your train before it leaves. Only problem is... you can't speak or read the language on this planet!"
